I think of my work as an exploration of the meaning I find in the places I live and visit, and the objects and lives I encounter and cherish. In a typical day or week, each of us experiences a kind of daily beauty in the landscapes and spaces we inhabit, cities we navigate and objects we embrace or apprehend. These places and things hold meaning for us, but why? The work is ultimately meant to transport the viewer and evoke curiosity to look more closely and consider why this depiction of the subject has emotional resonance. While the impact of a painting seen from across the room may be dramatic, the details seen up close play an equal role in enthralling the viewer.
