A Classical Opera Singer/Voice teacher by trade, I have always been interested in art, but was never formally trained on it. After attending a pastel demo by Robin Frisella, I immediately fell in love with the style and vibrant nature of the medium. I began watching online beginner videos and attending various workshops by experienced pastel artists. I studied with an accomplished artist Cindy Crimmin. This amplified my painting skills and allowed me to move to a completely different level. As a performer with a significant theater background I often find myself attracted to the stories behind the character, and try to bring it into my paintings by capturing a very specific moment. Being able to achieve this with merely chalk pastels, pencils, and my own fingers just seems absolutely magical to me, and the results of this creative process never cease to amaze me!
