The images I create emphasize the patterns and textures of rocks and sediments and the boundaries between earth, water and light. These natural interactions have a powerful influence on my images. I use composition, perspective, lighting and vantage points to isolate the elements of a scene and create a sense of depth and texture. I view photography as art and use an array of techniques and tools to remove distracting elements and to emphasize and enhance those most captivating. My goal is to present fine art photographs that bring visual elements together into one consistent, honorable and uncompromising vision that conveys my feelings of the moment – when a vision is most familiar.

The A.M. Foster covered bridge in Cabot, Vermont. I usually see images of this bridge as a night shot with the Milky Way in the background (next time, I promise), but it is picturesque in most light/seasons. In some ways, it reminds me of Motif No. 1 in Rockport, MA. I wouldn’t be surprised to see en plein air artists scattered about with their easels – if it was a little less remote. And, yes, this is Cabot as in Cabot Cheese (the maker of my favorite 3-yr aged extra sharp cheddar).

Located on the grounds of the Martha-Mary Chapel, this is the Red Stone School (circa 1798) in Sudbury, Massachusetts during a typical New England Nor’easter / snowstorm. It is a one room school house that was bought by Henry Ford and moved to this location. It is rumored to have been the schoolhouse referenced in the poem, “Mary Had a Little Lamb.”

A bay scallop shot laying on the bottom of a cove in Ft. Wetherill State Park. These bivalves are usually found nestled in seagrass beds and are easily distinguished from other bottom-dwelling animals by their electric blue eyes. Bay scallops are capable of swimming by opening and closing their shells rapidly to generate thrust, which can make catching them more challenging.
