My recent work has developed to the edge of abstraction with an emphasis on color exploration. The spirit of place and time is enhanced through this high chroma palette. From the series “Color Season’s” these images are derived from nature and ask viewers to search and explore for unspoken emotions and meanings. Each “Color Season’s” rich chroma and bold forms are created with painterly touch. The ephemeral undulation of forms and colors ask the viewer for immediate reflection. This technique suits the temporary nature of the motifs presented with long, freely applied sweeps of thick paint coursing across each canvas; colors surging forward and back. I present these landscapes as portrait paintings that drive viewers to critically think about our environment: landscape paintings as being, doing, and finding out.
