Needham Art Association hosts demonstrations and educational programs on the first Tuesday of the month. These programs are open to the public and are free unless otherwise noted, though registration may sometimes be required for non-members. This year some events will be virtual while others will be hosted at the Needham Free Public Library.
October Program
Demonstration: Deborah Schwartz
Tuesday, October 5, 7:00pm, Needham Free Public Library*
For our first program of the year, we are thrilled to welcome artist Janet Schwartz for an in-person pastel demonstration. Particularly drawn to the chaos and unexpected beauty of urban and suburban landscapes, Janet will be demonstrating how she approaches this chaos to transform it into a pastel painting.
Janet’s work includes a cross-section of subjects that use pastels to explore the variation of light in nature and architecture. Trained as an art teacher, she currently divides her time teaching art, painting, and exhibiting her work throughout New England. Initially working in oils, large-scale charcoal, and pastels, she now focuses primarily on pastels. You can learn more about Janet and her work on her website: janetschwartzart.com.
*Please note: Needham Art Association will be following health and safety protocols from the Town on Needham. If public health conditions require it, this program will be hosted on Zoom. Please check our website the day of the program to confirm location.
